More speakers on RailsConf Vegas

Posted by David April 28, 2009 @ 10:59 PM

RailsConf is going down next week in Vegas. I’m sure it’s going to be a great show and can’t wait to get out there. A few of the presenters have been blogging about the presentations that they’re doing.

Alexander Dymo is doing a session on Advanced Performance Optimization of Rails Applications, Jason Rudolph has one on testing JavaScript in Rails projects, Pat Maddox is talking about dealing with legacy Rails projects, and finally Sean Schofield just has five good reasons to attend the conference.

Check out the entire schedule for the conference and signup if you haven’t already. See you in Vegas!

David – you’ve jumped the shark. Why would I want to go to Vegas to listen to your frat-boy rants? Grow up.

Who let the trolls out? (woof, woof, woof, woof)

I’m coming from Europe. Do you think swine flu can be a problem?

  4. DHH on 29 Apr 18:35:

Alex, you’re late to the party. I’ve been jumping the shark since at least 2005. I’m going to try a handstand next!

I don’t believe this program has any nudity planned, but I’ll probably say fuck a few times. It’s sorta tradition now.

Oh, and I’ll also be talking about Rails 3.

    @bel2

Thanks for being thoughtful about this issue! The CDC has NOT recommended that people avoid travel at this time, so hopefully this will not be an issue at the conference.

Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention web site for news and recommendations: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/contentSwineFluUS.aspx

You could give Mike a nice send off message. He has dedicated a lot of time to rails and deserves atleast that much!

    Thanks for your answer Suzanne.

Will the talks be recorded and posted online? (by Confreaks or somebody)

  9. Ashley on 01 May 11:43:

I really didn’t look very hard, did I?

    http://railsconf.blip.tv/

I’m assuming they will be posted there, like the 2008 videos?

It would be nice to have a PDF ebook, covering all talks. The ebook itself can be distributed as ” Rails Conf 2009 “

The same approach was just adopted for Yehuda Katz’s speech at Mountainwest on Rails 3. His ebook worth 61 pages is now available as download for reading the same.

I am sure, this would be a welcome suggestion, since a single ebook will cover all talks, which one can read and distribute as well.

Funny, my last post about Mike’s departure mysteriously disappeared.

Censorship in all it’s forms are bad. Welcome to the new China.

  12. For Mike on 04 May 23:54:

    Fuck Rails.

  13. DHH on 06 May 04:43:

    Where is the Rails3 ???

  14. Mike on 06 May 21:08:

Come the keynote video with DHH be published public?

  15. rick on 07 May 15:24:

Fanboy: probably marked by spam from akismet. Why would someone censor your post about mike’s departure, yet leave the trollish comments on here?

  16. Mike Gunderloy on 08 May 01:57:

Hey folks – I just got tipped off to these comments. I appreciate whatever thanks I’m getting for past services, but honestly, a post about what was by all accounts a very successful RailsConf is no place to be trolling about my departure. Y’all know where to find me if you want to do something positive for the community.

Sadly railsconf is now over. It was my first and my head feels like its going to explode with all the new things I’ve learned. Will definitely be a regular from now on.

  18. Rails Fanboy on 08 May 21:10:

You are quite right Mike. See you there…

  19. Andrea on 11 May 19:03:

Amazing guys, is nice to know that rails continue growing bigger and stronger! Too bad that i live so far away, otherwise i would have been a regular! :) Good job.

Really amazing. I think, Mike is right.
