Learn more about Rails 2.0 through video

Railscasts.com is running a special series on what’s new in Rails 2.0. They’ve been showing off how to simplify views, how to usethe new foxy fixtures, and how to use HTTP authentication. All great stuff. And they’re promising there’s more to come. Keep it up.

Great series. actually, “great series” might be an understatement. i watched every video and Ryan Bates is just amazing. short, straight to the point videos.
Loved the ‘simplifying views’ piece.
The Ryan Bates railscasts are one thing that makes Mondays one of mine favorite days.
To Ryan Bates:
I subscribed to Railscasts in iTunes a little over 2 weeks ago, and all I can say is “Wow, thank you!”
Terrific production quality and the material is presented in an efficient manner. What a great way to learn Rails and stay current on the new features without spending too much time. Video is powerful.
Thanks so much for this!
I agree with the above. Ryan’s presentations are clean and smooth. No silly geek jokes, no down-your-throat preaching. Just great technique with the right amount of information to get things done and learn stuff.
Plenty of kudos to Mr. Bates! Even experienced rails programmers benefits from his screencasts – he seems to know Rails in-and-out, and he really has a lot of best-practice-advice.
Me too :)
Love them. Have watched all 82 episodes and often refer back to them. Excellent job Ryan.
Double True. Ryan Bates in teh k00lest.
I checked out their sponsor, Peepcode, who seem pretty good.
I will probably give them a try if I ever come across one of their coupons – their screencasts seem interesting but I’d like to try one, see how much they manage to convey in an hour and how well, before I commit to a 5-pack or whatever.
Anyone aware of any current Peepcode coupons?
Just “Thanks Ryan” ...
Been watching the railscasts for a while. They’ve been getting better and better. Glad to see them still going strong and staying on the cutting edge!
I’ve been a financial supporter of RailsCasts since day 1. He does a great job.
And @donnacha, here’s a PeepCode coupon for you: TRYAPEEP
RailsCasts are great for getting your feet wet with particular topics. PeepCodes are great for diving in head first. I’ve purchased every PeepCode and have been happy with each and every one.
Dear Pat,
I think, that learning must be money-free. Many developers in poor countries, can’t pay money for learning. :-(
But Railscasts – is what we need!
Dear peanut,
I think that one should be able to learn anything for free, and I believe that this is the case with Rails.
PeepCodes are nice because they are an especially good resource for obtaining a strong grasp of a certain Rails concept. The investment (9 bucks) seems more than worth it to me.
PeepCode is worth every cent of the minimal cost. I’d not come across these Railscasts before before they’re fantastic and definitely worthy of a PayPal donation.
I want to pair program with Ryan Bates. His approach is so refreshing and to the point. I love the way he completes bits of work on the same project over time as a way of showing incremental learning and improvement which is encouraged by RoR.
I invite everybody to take a look at a screencast I’ve compiled yesterday. This is the classic Blog app built using Rails 2.0.
See it here
Ryans Railscasts are a favorite of mine I check em out every Monday, I Also have learned a great deal from the Peepcode vids, to say the $9 dollars is a steal is an understatement.
